Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I'm Orren.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I founded DestinyHaven Counseling for people who are ready to move toward healing, clarity, and emotional well-being — and who want a therapist who will actually help them get there.

My career has taken me through child welfare, individual treatment, and veteran services. Social work taught me to see the whole person: your history, your family, your community, and the systems that shaped you. I bring that lens into every session. Clients describe my style as warm, empowering, and solution-oriented.

A Note Before You Reach Out

You don't need the right words yet.

Child welfare · Individual treatment · Veteran services

If you're reading this, some part of you is ready for something to change. Maybe you've been the strong one for so long that nobody thinks to ask how you're doing. Maybe you served, came home, and home doesn't feel the way it used to.

People heal when they feel seen, heard, and understood — and when they leave each session with something they can actually use. I'm warm, and I'm direct. I'll ask about your strengths as often as your struggles. We'll use proven methods like CBT and trauma-focused care, shaped to fit your life. You set the pace. I'll help you keep moving.

Start with a free consultation. We'll talk about what's going on, and you can decide whether I'm the right person to walk with you.

You Belong Here

Care that sees your whole identity.

Who you are shapes what you've been through. In this room, you won't have to explain it or leave any part of yourself at the door.

A Black Woman in Your Corner

You don't have to translate your life for me.

"Being understood shouldn't be the hard part of therapy."

As a Black woman and clinical social worker, I know how much it matters to sit across from someone who gets the context of your life — the pressure to be twice as good, the strength everyone expects, the stress of carrying family and community alongside your own load.

My care is culturally responsive. We'll make room for how race, faith, family, and community shape your story, treating your culture as a source of strength, not a footnote.

  • Black women & women of color
  • Black families & teens
  • Racial stress & strong-woman burnout
LGBTQIA+ Safe Space

Come as you are. All of you.

This is an affirming practice. Your name, your pronouns, your relationships, and your family are respected here without debate or explanation. I work with LGBTQIA+ teens, adults, couples, and families — including parents who want to support their child well.

We can work on identity, coming out, family acceptance, and the everyday stress of moving through a world that doesn't always make room for you. Or we can work on anxiety, grief, or burnout — and your identity is simply respected along the way.

  • Identity & coming out
  • Family acceptance
  • Queer & trans youth
  • Couples · Minority stress
Who I See

Three kinds of people find their way here.

Different lives, a similar feeling: carrying more than anyone can see.

Teens & Families

"You don't have to talk about everything on day one."

Some teens start by drawing. Some start by showing me what's on their phone. I work with adolescents on anxiety, anger, depression, and ADHD. When it helps, I bring the family in so home supports progress.

  • Trauma-Focused CBT
  • Family-Focused Therapy
  • Art therapy · Behavior management

Veterans & Military Families

"'Just talk about it' isn't a plan. Structured, proven treatment is."

I've worked in veteran services and respect how much it takes to ask for help. We'll use evidence-based PTSD treatment, including trauma-focused CBT and cognitive behavioral conjoint therapy.

  • PTSD & trauma · Anger
  • Couples work
  • Transition stress

Professionals & Women

"Competent on the outside. Exhausted underneath."

You're reliable, the one people call. And lately it's costing you — the 2 a.m. thinking, the short fuse, the Sunday dread. We'll work on burnout, anxiety, and grief with CBT and mindfulness-based tools.

  • Burnout · Anxiety & panic
  • Grief & loss
  • Women's issues
How I Work

Evidence-based, strengths-first, and practical.

I'm trained in thirteen therapeutic approaches. You don't need to know any of them — my job is to choose what fits you and explain it in plain language.

Untangling Thoughts & Moods

Tools to catch the spirals behind anxiety and depression, and skills to step out of them before they take the day.

CBT · MBCT · Interpersonal Psychotherapy

Moving Toward Change

We start from what's already working in your life and build forward, with clear goals you can feel progress on.

Questions

Things people ask first

I'm not sure therapy will help. Should I still reach out?

Yes. Most people start unsure. The free consultation is there so you can ask questions and get a feel for working together before committing to anything.

Does virtual therapy really work?

For anxiety, depression, trauma, and family concerns, research shows telehealth can be as effective as in-person care. Many clients find it easier to open up from a space where they already feel safe.

How involved are parents when I see a teen?

It depends on the teen and the goals. We'll agree at the start on what stays private, what gets shared, and when the family joins — so everyone knows what to expect.

How long does therapy take?

Some clients reach their goals in a few months; others prefer longer-term support. We'll review progress together regularly and adjust as you go.
